Oander are delighted to have been awarded the project at Chertsey Make Ready Centre to provide our client SECAmb with Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Principal Designer and Contract Administrator support along with a Multidisciplinary Design team solution to deliver the refurbishment project at this Make Ready Centre.
Further to a major flood at the site caused by a burst high-pressure water main within the highway earlier in the year, SECAmb have decided to utilise this as a positive opportunity to incorporate additional works to reconfigure and remodel areas of the building which were affected and to improve staff accommodate and facilities.
Make Ready Centres are service critical hubs for emergency first aid service providers where vehicles are serviced, prepared and replenished at the beginning and end of every shift. Along with a central point for first responders to collect and drop off their vehicle before being sent to Ambulance Community Response Posts, where they will response to 999 emergencies.
With the staff currently relocated and working from temporary accommodation due to the damage to their current crew rooms and operational mess, this has provided a fast-track project for Oander to work closely with SECAmb and the other stakeholders to deliver on behalf of this critical, blue light service.
Works include removal of asbestos materials, structural alterations, new mechanical and electrical systems as well as a complete refurbishment of the affected areas and also including the provision of additional office, meeting room and locker rooms space.
The fast-track nature of the works saw Oander awarded the project in November, mobilising within a week and it is scheduled to complete within this financial year.
Ben Davies, Oander’s Managing Director said “We are delighted to secure our first protect via the SECAmb Professional Services Framework, being given the opportunity to demonstrate Oander’s capability in delivering fast track healthcare projects in a live, infrastructure critical environment.
