Oander are overseeing the refurbishing of the Middlehill Activity Centre on behalf of the Marine Society and Sea Cadets (commonly known as the Sea and Marine Cadets).
The uniformed youth organisation, with over 400 units across the country aims to provide support, learning, and experiences to anyone between the ages of 12 to 18 years old.
Middlehill is a large, wooded facility located in Faygate, Sussex, which provides cadets with the opportunity to learn and enjoy a range of outdoor activities including camping, mountain biking, field craft and traditional outdoor pursuits.
The project is the refurbishment of the main activity centre building which provides classrooms and general operational space for the user and where Oander are providing Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Principal Designer services.
The work includes opening the building up into two large open plan classrooms to support both the cadets and the forest schools.
As part of the works, a new disabled toilet is being installed to provide much improved accessibility for those using the facilities, ensuring it is open to all.
