Weybridge Community Hospital unfortunately suffered a devastating fire in July 2017 casuing significant damage to the hospital buildings. Oander has been working hard on the emergency rebuild works and has successfully delivered a new temporary hospital facility. After a lot of hard work and detailed project management, Oander are delighted to share a few photos of the new temporary health centre.
The fire which ripped through the three story building started at around 23:30. There were a number of explosions and due to the buildings proximity to local housing, many of the local residents were evacuated. A local church was opened to provide shelter to the evacuees whilst the fire brigade worked on the blaze. It took Surrey Fire and Rescue most of the night to cotrol the blaze and had eight pumps, two aerial ladder platforms and three water carriers at the scene at the height of the blaze.
North Surrey Clinical Commissioning Group, community health provider CSH Surrey, and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals issued a joint statement in response to the fire. They said: “Unfortunately the building, which houses two local GP practices, the Weybridge Walk-in Centre and a number of other services such as imaging and physiotherapy, has been severely damaged and will not be re-opening in the near future.”
After succesfuly winning the contract for the emergency works, Oander had just 5 months to complete the whole job. The project required a number of specialist jobs to be completed, all of which Oander tackled head on.
Providing a multidisciplinary portfolio of services, our work included project management, principle design, c-sheets and design for a selection of associated infrastructure. Delivering the works, including the site clearance, on time and in budget Oander have successfully delivered this modular building consisting of 20 consulting rooms and a treatment suite.
